Benefits of Lab Testing
The benefit of lab testing is that it provides a better picture of what is happening in the body on a systemic level, and can more clearly direct treatment protocols.
Lab work, along with patient history and experience, helps us to understand and infer the root causes of symptoms.
Some of the most common lab tests I recommend for my patients include, but are not limited to:
-
General blood work testing
-
DUTCH (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones)
-
Salivary Hormone Testing
-
Food Sensitivity Testing
-
SIBO Testing (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)
-
Stool Testing (Testing for bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungal etc.)
-
Hair Mineral Analysis
-
OAT (Organic Acid Testing)
Why Should I Consider Lab Testing?
By conducting lab testing, we can rule in or out certain health conditions that might be causing negative health symptoms in your day to day life.
You can take the guesswork out of your health journey by identifying the factors that are limiting your ability to reach your optimal well-being.
They can also help you identify certain markers that could be leading you to further health complications down the road.
Personally, I cannot recommend to my patients enough that they invest in regular blood work for anything that they might have questions or concerns about.
Functional medicine tests, like listed above, can help to provide even more additional information where applicable.
Women who plan on getting pregnant can especially benefit from lab testing, as it helps to provide additional information about their current health status, and helps to highlight areas that may be impacting their fertility.
